Online shopping continues to rise in popularity because of its convenience, efficiency, and the wide selection of products made available to consumers. However, shopping through a screen comes with limitations. Products don’t always arrive as expected which leads to returns being made. Currently online returns are managed using some combination of returns portals, emails, accounts, and reading policies which can be a taxing process that gets put off until later. As a result, people may miss returns windows or not bother at all which loses them money. The aim of this project was to create a design that simplifies the returns process for consumers.
Reco is an a concept app that aims to make online returns easier to manage and complete. It utilises AI to gather and combine relevant information from users’ email accounts and retailers’ websites into one central resource.
Users can view their online orders and how long they have left to return them on the home page. This leads to a more detailed view including order items, return by dates and a link to the returns policy.
The returns barcode is conveniently displayed in-app along with instructions and local drop off points for the returns carrier.
Notifications that remind users to return their orders can be enabled and customised.
Orders can be pinned to the top of the feed for an efficient swipe-through experience when making multiple returns at drop-off points.
Users can hide orders they won’t be returning to clear up the home feed if they are frequent shoppers.
